If your in Cardiff at the moment it’s well worth going to see Columns by Myles Leadbeatter with Actuated Lab and sound by Jon Ruddick. Columns is an interactive environment where the architecture is in constant flux in response to its inhabitants.

The installation consists of a series of wooden columns which are each mounted on a threaded shaft and suspended from cross beams. Motors drives the columns horizontally across the space at the same slow pace while a generative sound composition with bells is being played in the space. Touching a metal plate on each of the columns pauses its movement and influences the sound composition.

The installation runs at Arcade Cardiff, Unit 3b Queens Arcade, Wednesday’s to Saturday’s, 12.30 – 5.30pm until the 13/7/13.
