Art in Cyberspace: Can It Live Without a Body?

Art in Cyberspace: Can It Live Without a Body?

Theres an interesting article about art going online which appeared in the New York Times in 1996 posted at post.thing.net.

Not about net.art as such but it does confuse the issue by discussing a few net.art resources and artists amongst galleries online spaces, you can tell from reading it that the mainstream media is not quite understanding these distinctions yet. While incredibly dated, to the extent that many of the resources listed at the end of the article have disappeared or are now static and the writer provides an explanation of what is a url (cute), the article does provide a nice contrast to our current web, post dot com crash / emerging web 2.0, and shows how the net.art / art online landascape has changed and evolved.
